The Miesian Plaza, a complex of three office buildings, was originally designed as a high-end office complex and was constructed in two phases during the 1960s and 1970s. The three buildings include a 4- and a 5-story building in the front and in the back 8-stories raised on a podium; in total 21.800 m2 which today - after major refurbishment - houses the new headquarters for the Departments of Health and Children and Youth Affairs in a modern facility hosting more than 800 employees.
In 2016 the refurbishment was started to upgrade to ultra-modern buildings with Grade A office accommodation, which would be energy efficient and have the highest sustainability credentials. The project is on target to achieve WELL Building Standard Compliance and the design has just been granted LEED v4 Platinum Rating.
